April 8, 2017-Easter Egg Hunt & BBQ+Bunny Petting Zoo! What an absolutely memorable day at church, all the kids in the neighborhood had an amazing time going on a treasure hunt for Easter eggs, cuddling with the Easter bunny, holding their pet rabbits at the petting zoo, playing games and getting their adorable faces painted for the Easter holiday. We were able to get all 7 of our Easter bunnies adopted by the kids except for one! We had a great turn-out this year!
I'm not entirely sure about the exact newcomers and head counts for our Easter event, but it is roughly between 130~150 people, which is based on the pictures I've took and how many burger buns eaten at the event.
In my opinion, I feel like there are three things that makes my husband a great recreational director for our church, which is the fact that he doesn't get easily affected and offended by other peoples' opinions of him, he is incredibly easy-going, patient, and forgiving towards others, and he has a big heart. He is also very flexible when it comes to finding different techniques and methods in getting things done on time.
On the other hand, I'm more of a perfectionist that have very high expectations towards myself and others, but sometimes I don't know how to communicate my ideas well with others. I have the tendency to panic under pressure and I personally know that I perform better as an individual as opposed to working with a group. I weren't be able to guarantee that I will be able to handle the situation so well if I was given the same position to serve at church with his participation at the board of directors' meeting. I know that I'm never going to please everyone and get along with everyone in life, but little things that gets to me have never bothered my husband at all, which is something I desperately need to work on and learn to overcome everyday.
My hubby did a wonderful job handing out fliers with Pastor Phillip and his youth group around the neighborhood 2 weeks before the event, which is another great way to advertise about the Easter holiday.
The only thing that we have missed out on is setting up multiple booths that introduces the different departments and services that our church offers to our local community, which includes our LVCC Nursery, Preschool, Day-care Center, Youth Group, Stephen Ministry, Campfire, Boy & Girl Scouts, Bluebird, Hearts & Hands, Saturday Nighters, Men & Women's Breakfast, Wednesday Night Bible Study, Church Choir, and Young Adults Fellowship, much more...etc. We should have also set up a sign up sheet for people that are interested in receiving a free newsletter about our church's local events and services, and ask them to fill out their basic contact information.
